Redo the GOLD STRIPE
We removed the gold stripe on our 1994 IP35-165 back in 2007. These photos show the process and also show the CLEAR FILM layer that is on top of the stripe. This is hard to see and if left on, this will crack and craze due to UV. If your gold stripe is cracked and crazed, it more than likely had this thin film left on after installation.
To remove the old stripe, we use a heat gun along with a sharp putty knife. After it was removed, we cleaned the surface and then placed blue tape markers at the bottom edge as a guide as we put on the new stripe. To put on the new stripe, we attached the starting point and then pulled out at least 15 feet of tap and from a distance slowly moved this towards the surface using the guides. This way, with tension on the unrolled tape, you will get a smooth non wavy line.
