Hi. I am considering the purchase of a 2001 IP380 which was storm damaged in 2004 (hurricane Francis I believe). I am visiting the boat this weekend (boat is in Alberta, Canada) and I would like to locate the HIN so I can perform some due diligence if we are interested in moving forward. I have looked at the boat once already and this visit is to have a closer inspection. I would be interested to know if the HIN was placed in more than one location typically by the builder, just in case the area where it would be found is damaged.
The boat has a lot of gel coat damage to the topsides but allegedly was not holed or sunk. My first impressions are in agreement with this. Boat was hauled to Alberta about 12 years ago from Florida and has been under cover for much of that time. My visit last week found her dry inside and besides the dust and various areas where furniture was removed, she was in better shape than I expected. Makes me wonder what I am missing.....
