Ahoy from Horst and Julia - we crossed our outbound track from Puerto Vallarta/ Mexico to the Marquesas in March and completed our 6 year circumnavigation. Our home base is Emery Cove Marina in San Francisco. Our cruising reports can be found in the 'Changes' of the Latitude 38 magazine. Highlights were Moorea, Aitutaki, Nue, Fidji, New Zealand, Indonesia, Maldives, Pirate Alley, Israel, Greece, Istanbul, Rome, the French Canals including Paris, St.Catherine's Dock in London, Scottland, Ireland, Terceira/Azores, San Blas islands. Our little ship Pacific Star has held up and taken care of us very well. Good sails including full batten main, triradial Genoa, a high cut jib for hard upwind work and a large asymmetrical spinnaker keep the boat moving well. Upwind motorsailing is well supported with staysail and reefed main. Our Yanmar 35HP has now 5500 hrs and is still going strong - with a heavy cruising boat a bit underpowered, about 10 more HP would be desirable. I plan to replace all the chain plates, the fuel, water and holding tank and eventually the engine before heading back out there. A top down furler for the asymmetrical chute is also on my wish list.
Cheers Horst SV Pacific Star
