At present 11/24/2012 this IPBPS Rally is in its developmental stages and as such, no guarantee of a event even taking place is promised or guaranteed. Interested boat owners and voluntary crew members may join the list of potential rally participants by sending an email to the rally coordinator, Capt. Bruce Gregory at the email address below. Please state you're interest as either owner or crew. Owners need include the boat model, size, boat name, and hailing port. All participating boats will be listed under the Boats & Owners tab of the Rally website and all volunteer crew under the Crew List tab there also. I wanted to provide an update for this event since nothing has been added for quite a while.

First and foremost, I sadly report that Bruce Gregory has stepped down as a participant due to a death in his family. I'd like to offer my condolences and regrets. I'd also like to thank Bruce for all his work to get this rally up and running.

With that said I want to let it be known that the rally is still planned and moving ahead. We currently have three, maybe four, boats and crews actively involved. We're planning to meet at Southall Landings Marina in Hampton, Virginia on or about May 24 and leave that weekend for Bermuda. The original leave date was set for that Sunday, May 26, but we're considering leaving a day or two earlier to allow more time in Bermuda. I'm planning to return by June 11, give or take a few days. We're subscribing to a weather routing service and will use that info to give us a firm departure and return window. The participants are in contact with each other using group e-mails to discuss our plans, safety items, contact info for Bermuda, etc. The sail from Southall Landings to Bermuda is 640 miles and we're planning 5 to 7 days in each direction.

We're still about four weeks out from our departure date. If anyone else is interested there's still plenty of time to get organized for this trip. You can contact me through IPYOA.

I'm still planning on going. Was down at the boat today and the new boot stripe is almost finished, Then barrier coat and bottom paint. Hopefully I'll be able to splash by this coming weekend.
