IPs in Banderas Bay, Mexico

We're back aboard HONU in Banderas Bay, Mexico at Paradise Village Marina where we left her for hurricane season. Our slip is way back in the estuary where we felt she would be the most protected should a storm visit. We've worked hard to put her back together so we can head South next month.

It gets very hot and humid here in the afternoon and yesterday we decided to use one of the resorts pools to cool down and celebrate our work with a cold one or two. It's a long walk from the boat to the pools and I decided to count IPs in slips along the way. The total was eight and I know a couple have left in the last few days. I was told by one IP owner the other day that he was asked by a boater if there was an IP dealer in the bay.

Thanks Hayden. Our cruising plans have been pretty much covered in our blog, www.sailblogs.com/member/sailinghonu/ . For a while it showed up in the ipyoa.com RSS feed, but that stopped a while ago.

The short of it is that we sailed to Mexico from San Francisco last October. We cruised Pacific Mexico until June. We left the boat in Banderas Bay for hurricane season and are now starting our second season here. We motored her over to La Cruz de Huanacaxtle from Paradise Village Marina, about 6 mm, today. A dead calm day with thunderstorms on the horizon and dolphins playing around us. We plan to stay here until Dec 20 when we'll do the 135 mm trip South to Barre de Navidad. We plan to stay there through New Years. Our loose plans after that are to anchor in secluded bays, maybe as far South as Zihuatanejo after the first of the year. We need to be back in Banderas Bay before mid February so we can fly back to California to spend a few weeks with our grandsons. March or April should find us in the Sea of Cortez until it gets too hot, maybe mid June. Then we'll put her away for another hurricane season.

We were a bit surprised to find so many IPs in La Cruz. We haven't done an exhaustive search, but have already seen three besides HONU. We're in a slip beside Music, an IP40, a few slips away is Pincoya, an IP44, and Nakamal, an IP380 is on another dock. There may be others.
