Why cover? Any downsides? And yes I'm jealous or those who are able to exercise the last option.

These days, outside in Portland ME, about 1 hr drive from house. Mast up, covered w/ arched PVC support poles and ridge pole, holding up shrink wrap. Previously covered with lower shrink wrap, very little room to work on deck. In better economy stored indoors, mast down, heated to 50 degF. That was nice. Yes, cover the boat - saves wear and tear, but make sure it is ventilated.

Last year we stored on the hard and had our boat shrink wrapped. This year we're living aboard so the boat's in the water. We have a full cockpit enclosure but opted not to cover the rest of the boat. We've seen wear on the exposed teak but it was gonna need attention in the Spring anyway. We suffered one day of water intrusion at the mast during a severe rainstorm but a towel stuffed in the gap at the overhead took care of that. Moisture and mildew have not been a problem due to running the heat 24/7. We also placed insulation inside our hatch covers and it prevented any moisture from forming on the inside. I don't think we'll ever use shrink wrap again. Might consider canvass if we had a place to store it.
