I would like to post a review about our second visit to a very unique place. Harbour Cay Club. It is a private 24 slip owner driven marina/condo/private club located in the heart of the Florida Keys on Vaca Key in the town of Marathon, Florida. Google this address: 1466 Overseas Highway, Marathon, Florida 33050. When looking at this site via satellite images, you will see the beauty and peace of this location.

HCC is small, with only a few open slips for rent. Most of the 24 slips are held by owners who live aboard here and graciously share their paradise with you. This is not a regular marina at all. You are renting a slip at an owner's home! You are a guest and the really fantastic aspect is how welcome they make you feel at their home. There is a great clubhouse, beautifully landscaped grounds, clean bathrooms, free ice machine, laundry room, recycling, WiFi, pumpout at your slip, water, electric, and cable TV at your slip. The best aspect is the daily TiKi HUT gathering at 1700 hrs for stories and visits with everyone present.

The special aspect to this cruising lifestyle is NOT the destinations or locations, but rather the PEOPLE YOU MEET. Yes, it is great drifting around on a boat and moving from place to place, but the real key to enjoying cruising lies with the people that you meet. The people that help you out. The people that go out of their way to make your stay a real joy. THIS is the true beauty of the cruising lifestyle and no place exhibits this more than Harbour Cay Club. Everyone is so kind and welcoming and friendly. Of all the places we have sailed to from Maine to Key West and over to the Abacos.....this place is the most difficult to leave. Both years, we set an exit date BEFORE we arrived, and then we try to stick to that plan. Now, with one week left here on our plan, we are already feeling the pain of departure. We have our goal of sailing to the EXUMAS and that requires us to move on. I can easily say, that if I had to stay anywhere, this is one of the very best places!

In closing..... if you plant to sail to MARATHON FL, then you must make Harbour Cay Club a destination. Capt Jim will look out for you as a fellow Island Packet Owner and you will really enjoy your stay.
