Main Sail - Loose or Fixed Foot

Over the years, has it always been an option to get an Island Packet with a loose or fixed foot main sail? I'm looking at new sails for my 2000 380 and considering changing over from the fixed to loose foot style main sail.

Any experience or suggestions on this appreciated.

John:
I have run a loose footed main sail for 20 years on our IP. It works great. There is no reason to have a bolt rope or lugs on the bottom of the main sail. I recommend you go loose footed. It is far easier too.

Thanks Hayden. I'll pick up and install my stack pack with the new sail slides (lugs) sewn on and will cut the mainsail foot loose next wknd. I'm looking forward sailing with the loose foot.
