Hello:

Does anyone know what cabinets need to be temporarily removed when replacing the chain plates of an IP38 or other model close in size?

We will be having our chain plates replaced this winter while it is in winter storage in Maine.  I would like to know how much gear I need to take out of the boat to facilitate the process and since I live in Florida it must be done before the boat is hauled.

On the starboard side I have a settee back with a closed cabinet on top.  On the port side I have a tall cabinet againt the bulkhead and then a settee back with a closed cabinet on top.  On the port side forward of the bulkhead I have another tall cabinet.

Thanks so much.

I found the answers to my questions?

The settee backs need to be emptied but they are not removed during the chainplate exchange.  They are emptied in order to gain access to screws.

The closed cabinets that sit on top of the settee backs are removed.

The top and door is removed from tall cabinets.
