Have a 1987 38IP #40 with a profurl roller furling on the stay sail. Boat is in Columbia, but "bearings" have given up the ghost. Have manual, but no way to tell model - any help would be appreciated. George

We were told at the Miami Boat Show to soak the drum bearings with JOY or any dish detergent. Then work the drum, we dropped the sail, and worked it back and forth, and do the same to the top unit. Then rinse with lots of water. They stop working due to dirt, and built up salt. This really made our units furl much easier. I know you are not there at the boat, but maybe this will help.

The bearings are toast - nothing left but a sliver. Don't think joy will help at this point. Cartagena has lot of machine type shopes, but I would rather bring them back myself as you can spend days just looking. Thanks, hope you had a great time in Maine. George
