HELP does anyone know about mast mount radar on IP?

HELP does anyone know about mast mount radar on IP? was created by boattheworld
I recently purchased 2008 IP 370 without radar. I am purchasing Raymarine digital 2kw 18 radar and I have no idea what is involved in mast mounting.
Is there empty conduit inside the mast from the factory?
Is there a best location to drill into the mast for install?

I have seen other installs just below the steaming light. Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, MW

Your best way to do this is to us a www.katomarine.com radar mast mount. Tap into the mast and bolt it on. The mast does have T fittings that pvc tubing can be inserted onto. We mounted ours just under the spreaders. Our IP Maine dealer, Pierce Yachts, mounts them at about 10 feet off the deck on the mast reachable with a step ladder extension! Any where under the spreaders is fine.
