Ive just been passed down my IP26 from my uncle. Until now, the only bilge pump on the boat has been the manual pump located next to the helm. The problem with this is that it doesnt get all of the water out of the bilge, so there is always a few inches of water left in the bottom that I cant get out. I want to install an electric bilge pump with a switch so that Im able to pump it out, and also because I figure its a good idea to have more than one way to get water overboard. Im a novice to these kind of systems. Can anyone enlighten me on what type of pump I need and the best way to install it? I cant decide what the best mounting option would be and where to discharge it. Do I need a check valve as well? I will try to post a picture of the bilge to give a better idea of what Im working with.
