Fresh Water Connections was created by Leterip
I have an IP 350. We do a lot of slip sailing and I wanted to add a fresh water connection to the boat. My brother in law has a 42" Searay and it has a hose connection that allows you to connect directly to the "city water" on the dock and bypass the on board system. I was wondering if I coud add such a connection at the exit line from the dinky accumulator on the boat and do just that. I was also wondering if 30+ PSI from the dock would back up through the accumulator and pump back into the tank and overflow it? I guess I could put a check valve in front of the new city connection?? Anyone out there done this before?

This is a common fitting available at camping centers. You could mount this in the cockpit near the helm seat down low. I would want a shut off valve right there for when I leave the boat. I also would want a pressure gauge to drop the pressure if you think it would be needed.

When we are living aboard at the dock, we simply fill the tank with the dock hose. We use 15 gallons a day for two people, so once every 6 days we need water. No big deal.

I would not deal with this, I would let it be, and simply get use to managing water while living on the boat.
