Fresh Water Tank was created by RBHill
I purchased an IP35 about 10 months ago and I'm in the middle of a refit.  The previous owner started the refit about 20 years ago, gave up on the project, and she sat on the hard in Anacortes untouched for almost 20 years.  When he passed away, I bought the boat from the estate.  Here is the tank situation:

Holding tank:  None when I bought it.  Head discharged directly overboard.  I've installed a composting head (love it) and removed all the plumbing.
Fuel:  Previous owner installed a very nice fiberglass 60 gallon tank.
Fresh water:  Previous owner did a nice job cutting out the cabin sole, but no new tank was installed.  I installed a Plastimo flexible tank as a temporary solution, but now it's time for my real tank.  My question is regarding it's installation.

I picked up a used SS tank in nice shape.  It is 20" by 20" by 48", so it fits space nicely.  It has mounting points on the 4 bottom corners that stick out about 1.5" in the long dimension of the tank.  Here's the million dollar question:  Can I drill holes in the bottom of the bilge to put in 1/4" by 1.5" lag screws to secure the tank?  They would be about 1.25" inboard of the bilge side walls.  Thanks

Are you drilling into the hull or the plywood that likely formed a box around the tank? 1.5" long sound excessive if the tank is captured on most sides and unable to move. At that point you want screws long enough to go through the wood surround and not much further or you'll be into things you don't want to be into.
