I see the topic of a water tank inspection port has come-up on this form before, but I'd like to raise it again.
I was using my galley pump during commissioning, and some vegetive matter flushed out. Not terrible, but not great either. But it seemed like a good idea to clean out the tank. Examining it, I admired its generous inspection plate, and thought it might be a pretty simple task. At first! The problem is that it's long axis runs abeam the ship while the floor boards run fore-and-aft. The net result is that 3 of the 10 screws holding the plate in place are covered by the sole and unreachable with only 1 1/2 inches clearance. You'd have to drill a hole in the teak to get to them, which I am not about to do.
The tank appears to the the original aluminum tank. Has anyone managed this problem or have any ideas as to how to approach it?
