Life Raft on an IP27 was created by gero
Hello everyone! I hope you are all enjoying the summer.
I have a new question on my IP 27. I'm getting ready for some offshore cruising, and about to get a new life raft. I can choose valise (like a bag) or canister (solid container), but first I need to decide where to install it. Has any IP27 owner any advice?
Thank you!

I have a Winslow 6-man Ultra-Lite Offshore liferaft on my IP27. It's in a valise inside a dry bag strapped against the bulkhead inside the port lazarette. It's easily accessible from the cockpit: just open the laz lid and there it is. Release the buckle on the 2" webbing strap and lift. (Note: it weighs 36 pounds.) I keep it in a dry bag to protect it from spills, dirt, fuel fumes, etc.; the handle is on top so it's easy to grab. Thankfully, I've never had to use it. I got it at the Newport Boat Show and took advantage of boat show discounts, but it still cost $3000. ML

Thank you! Yeah, that life raft is around $3,800 without the discount... Due to my budget, I was aiming at something like the Revere 4-person offshore commander (www.westmarine.com/buy/revere-supply--of...6167363?recordNum=20) which is of course heavier and bigger, but $1,900...
Thank you for the tip, I'll see if it fits there!
