Island Packet saloon table was created by Cicero
Hi all
I am getting used to my recently acquired 2004 IP420.  I have two issues with the saloon seating (1) the fiddles cut off my circulation and (2) the table top, even when opened out is very high - too high to eat comfortably and way to high to use a keyboard on it for any length of time.  I am 6' 3" and can't imagine how a shorter person would cope!

The foam in the seats has probably seen better days but will replacing this fix these issues?  Has anyone else experienced them? I feel as though I need a booster seat!it looks as though it would a simple matter to lower the table/cabinet (four bolts through the bulkhead) but I would prefer to avoid this if I can as for one thing the legs would all need to be shortened...
Thank you in advance, Andrew

Why not consider new thicker stiffer settee cushions. Instead of lowering the table, raise your butt!

Andrew:
I agree the dining table is too high, and I have always thought that too. Lowering the table might be a good idea, it would not be that difficult. For my laptop, I use a lower table that I designed many years ago and that works great. You might want to add this:

As for cross posting from IPhome port, that is fine. What you will see is that on this site, we have linked up EVERY IP Site, where as over on Bobby and Stu's site (non IP owners they are) they will NEVER tell anyone about our REAL IPYOA owners sites here or on Facebook. They do not want you as an owner to know of this site. Such a shame.

Thank you for taking the time to reply Hayden. I'd expected this to be such a well known issue that I would be grumpily referred to previous threads! You have devised a very elegant solution which I will seriously consider. Thank you too for the heads up about the other site.

This has solved my laptop height issue and it has worked well. Our table is still, like all IPS crazy high when seated it is close to your chin,,,,ha ha ha...
There are many ergonomic mistakes on IPs as many of them have very odd issues. This table height is just one of them that we all put up with.
