port gaskets was created by robcathy
Hi, can anyone advise on the proper way to replace gaskets for ports ie: what adhesive and any issues during installation that may help. We have an IP 38.

I used Permatex flexible gasket material. Messy, but worked well. One tube was able to do all 9 gaskets. clean well and used acetone prior to setting the gaskets.

Buy new rubber gasket material on line - can provide link if needed. Simple adhesive to glue it in place. Will last for years.

Yes, please add the reference link, thanks. Is it also in our LINKS database here? I have Austin Hardware there...

Thanks Ron and Bobby for the info. I got the gasket material through IP and they recommended household caulking/adhesive. I guess any decent waterproof adhesive will do. I'm just being cautious 'cause a really don't want to do it twice!

Can anyone tell me what size gaskets are needed to replace the ones in the ports of my IP-38? A part number if ordered through Austin would be especially helpful too. I'm 100+ miles from Priority and would like to order the material before my next trip to the marina. Thanks.

For preventative maintenance, can anyone recommend a product to treat the gaskets to increase their function life? Thanks.

We use Armour All once a year on our port and hatch gaskets. Does a nice job of keeping them from deteriorating.
