IP445 (or larger) Center Cockpit companionway help for larger dog

My husband and I are thinking about upgrading to an IP 445 center cockpit. One concern is the tall companionway - we think it might be too steep and tall for our 50-pound dog to easily get up/down, even with our help. Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this? We are open to using a ramp but most ramps are for getting from the dinghy/water to the boat, which is not an issue on the IP445. He is an extremely agile dog so we could easily teach him to use a ramp if it worked and wasn't too bulky for storage. The companionway entrance is taller than us - probably 6' from the sole of the cabin to the cockpit.

We currently live aboard our IP350 - so this is a multiple day occurrence going up/down the companionway. Our dog is not allowed up/down the companionway on his own - we help him both up and down. But it is easy in the 350.

Getting rid of the dog is NOT an option! :)

If anyone has any experience with this, we would appreciate your thoughts!
