Corrosion on +12V input post was created by bakhita
I have an interesting problem with the +12V terminal post on the MasPower MP8M Generator which is located under the Nav Station seat of my IP440. Of course this terminal post is under the generator on the hull side, so it is very difficult to access. I had previously noticed corrosion on the terminal post/cable and decided to clean it up. When I grabbed the +12V cable, it came away from the terminal post, with nothing but a solid green end without a ring terminal. Fortunately, I had disconnected all power to this cable, so not sparks! Continued inspection revieled that the cable terminal ring was mostly gone, but still on the terminal post. The nut which should have held the cable to the post was in pieces on the deck below the terminal post. I removed the remains of the cable terminal ring and cleaned up the terminal post, which revieled that the post was also missing some material, as can be seem in the accompanying photograph.

Does anyone know if this terminal post can be replaced without removing the generator from the boat?
Does anyone know how to find the part number for this terminal post?
Any other ideas?

Note, this likely came about as the result of the battery terminals sitting on water for about 3 weeks, in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. Guessing some electrolysis took place at the positive terminal....

Thanks,
-Paul
