I was just reading an article on inverter/chargers in Practical Sailor March 2010 issue in which their choice at that time was a Mastervolt Combi 12/2000-100. The RFI emissions safe zone was short and RFI emissions were very low. I have an IP 40 with the old Heart interface and I believe I am having issues with my SSB due to the proximity of the inverter and high RFI.

Joe:

I have the Xantrex ProSine 2000 watt inverter/charger. I have had this since 2001. One time I had to send it in for repairs and they fixed it free of charge. If I were buying one again, I would buy this one. At 2,000 watts, we can actually run the hot water heater which is crazy, but on a cold AM with the engine on, we can turn on this inverter and flip on the water heater. Then in 10-15 minutes we have hot shower water. NOTE: We rarely do this, but it does work. We mainly use this to make the 120 outlets hot on anchor which then can run laptop chargers and a TV and Microwave.

A few years ago we installed a Magnum Pure Sine 2800 that includes a 125 amp charger. We wanted the big charger because we have a 750 a/hr house bank and didn't want to spend hours bringing it up to 100%. We also had issues with some equipment not liking the "modified sine" power we got from our old inverter. This past summer we had a water leak from one of our ports short out the inverter. Magnum replaced it without a question, not even a whimper. Highly recommended.
