IP 370 Frigoboat

We are having problems with our frigoboat keel cooled freezer. The compressor is running continuously and not reaching the 14.5 F set point. For about two weeks has hovered around 16 F now climbing to near 20F.

The evaporator has about 1/8 to 1/4 inch of frost all over it . I do not believe defrosting will help at this time as unit was not reaching set point right after last defrost.From what have read a fully frosted evaporator and still not reaching stepping means inadequate cooling capacity for the load.Has anyone else experienced this problem? It seems worse when freezer is full.

Hi Bob,
We have had this on our 440. Two things that seem to help is removing as much card and packaging from items in the freezer. The other things is to ensure the catch is fastening down tight enough. We regularly tighten the nut on this to make sure the lid seals properly. Warm sea water also has an effect on performance.
