Do You Leave Refrig/Freezer on or off?

If you are going to be going to and from the boat weekly.....do you think it is better to leave the refrig/freezer on or turn it off each time.

Some thought to this....leaving it on may wear out components faster, means leaving boat plugged in to shore power etc...but you can keep drinks and staples and ice from week to week.

Turning it off...requires time to get it to temp (harder on systems?)each week, hauling more food back and forth.cleaning and drying it out each week..etc..but no shore power needed.

What do you think is better?

We shut all power down except solar charging when we leave the boat for the work week. I don't think the cold machine works that hard to get the box cold because we fill it with cold and frozen food and leave very little air space by using a thick bubble wrap "blanket." The lugging does get old though, as we are on a mooring at the house and no dock! Ugh!

Our two 135 watt solar panels are just enough to run the refer and freezer while off the boat. But I would probably not do this for more than a few days. I guess the only scenario where this would happen is out on a mooring. Would never leave a boat on anchor unattended for more than 24hrs.If at dock we plug in.
