We will be cruising from Chatham, MA to Nantucket at the end of this month. Just staying a long weekend. We have been there for day trips but never overnight on the boat. Anything I should know or not miss?
The whaling museum is a good visit. Mirna and I enjoy the Fog Island Cafe for breakfast and every few years we splurge for dinner at Toppers at the Wauwinet Inn.
Yeh Toppers looks like its worth a try for a splurge. I also found Jetties bar and grille that looks like my kind of place. Do you know how the anchorages are in Nantucket Harbor? Is it worth just getting a mooring? I dont want to have a mile long row in the dinghy to get in.
The anchorage is way out past the mooring field. We found good holding but watch the current it get's you turned funny. The moorings aren't that close either but they are better as far as distance. You can also buy a book of launch rides for a discount whether you anchor or take a mooring. Last year I paid 65/night for a mooring.
I think we will prob go with the mooring. We are bringing the dinghy over but if its not a quick row I think I might go with the water taxi. Is that through Nantucket Moorings or the Boat Basin?
