Dear Mike,
If you have never been to St. Mary's City, MD, on the north shore of the Potomac River shortly after the entrance, I highly recommend it! This charming town was the first capital of Maryland and has a historic archeological dig site, interpreters in colonial dress who speak to you from the time the village was settled in the early 1600's and authentic tobacco farming in progress. There is a beautiful state college in the middle of town, with a great dinghy dock and a terrific cafeteria open to the public serving inexpensive meals. For more info, go to
