Potomac River Cruise to Washington was created by gratitude
Good Morning,

Just arrived in Portsmouth after a good trip from Florida. Thinking about taking a week to cruise up the Potomac to DC. Any experience or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

Dear Mike,
If you have never been to St. Mary's City, MD, on the north shore of the Potomac River shortly after the entrance, I highly recommend it! This charming town was the first capital of Maryland and has a historic archeological dig site, interpreters in colonial dress who speak to you from the time the village was settled in the early 1600's and authentic tobacco farming in progress. There is a beautiful state college in the middle of town, with a great dinghy dock and a terrific cafeteria open to the public serving inexpensive meals. For more info, go to www.stmaryscity.org/ Have fun!

Hi mike, agree w radeen st marys is opposite green marker 9 on the Potomac...st mary's river on north side of Potomac and the yeocomico on the south side

Horseshoe bend is great anchorage and easy access from Potomac about 3 nm or so north on the st marys river
