3JH2E Injectors was created by jcriss
Hi Folks,

I recently hired a mechanic to help with an engine on my Yanmar 3JH2E. We decided that the injectors needed replacement. When the mechanic ordered injectors the one that arrived were mirror images of the ones needed for our engine. So, make a long story short, I am having difficulty getting the mechanic to get the correct injectors and finish the job. A couple of questions...

1). What is the best source for ordering new injectors from Yanmar? I have looked at several online.
2). How difficult is it to install the injectors myself. I am not helpless mechanically but I lack any specialized tools.

Thanks for any advice.

Jason:
It is easy. The trick to remove the injectors is to loosen the injector hold down just a bit, but don't take off the hold down. Now, turn the engine over one second with the key, just bump the starter. The compressing will pop the injectors loose. Now, you can remove the hold-downs and the fuel rails and pull out the injectors. The real issue is more about the injector nozzle and tip. Sometimes the washer or injector round shield will remain in the head. If so, I just left my old washers and tips in there and installed the new injectors.

AS for buying new injectors, I would call the parts department at www.HavenHarbour.com and ask for Barbara, I buy my parts via her. But any dealer can sell these.

RE: "1). What is the best source for ordering new injectors from Yanmar?" It somewhat depends on where you are located.
Over many years, I have had excellent service from Mastry Engine in FL. Doug Dykens has been with them for many years. He knows the IPs and their engines.
He is also a very good tech and has the patience to explain things.

Hi, I removed my injectors on my 3GM30 and sent them for service. When they arrived back, I replaced them and experienced no problem when manually priming the fuel. A bit dirty but quite an easy job even with minimal experience and no special tools. Probably a good idea to take a lot of photographs as you proceed and while I did not need to revert to those, it gives some comfort.
