Hi All

Has anyone had experience of engines seizing?

Our boat is located in a warm shed in Germany. We were unable to visit due to the Corvid lockdown for nearly 2 years. But when we did some 6 weeks ago we found the engine to be seized solid. Prior to shutdown there was no indication at all that there was anything wrong with the engine.

Any suggestions, but keep them clean please.

Take out your injectors and pour marvel mystery oil down each one. Let sit for a few days, then slowly manually through the front crank case pulley start working engine back an forth. Use a pipe over the breaker bar for leverage. Make sure Marvel comes to top of injectors. Undo your compression release and once engine starts to break free, remove all oil by spinning the engine manually. If you use the starter motor there is a chance you’ll bend a rod. If you free it up change oil, run engine and after it runs and gets hot, shut down and replace oil with a good synthetic. Good luck, Jack
