Stuffing box nut size was created by SLaz
Hi All,
I have seen the topic of packing box nut size raised, but not answered, in the forum. Getting There is in Antigua but I am in Connecticut, and I can't measure the stuffing box nuts until I get back. Buying a good stuffing box wrench down there is quite difficult. All that Budget has for sale are cheap adjustable wrenches that flex with pressure. I'd like to bring a fixed size wrench with me when I return.

I read that a 2 5/16" nut goes with a 1 1/4" shaft for Buck Algonquin Packing Box Wrenches on the Defender web site. But it would be great if anyone could confirm the size of the nut on a IP370 or any other boat with a 1 1/4" shaft, I guess.

TIA,
Steve

On our 370/24 I use a pair of crowfoot wrenches, best solution I have found to break it loose for adjustment. I read on one of the IP sites from a 380 owner that 2 5/16 was the correct size, so I bought a pair in the Fall and did not try them till Spring and found the correct size for my boat is actually 2 1/4", which I now use. Too late to return the first pair and they take up room in my tool box. They are yours for the UPS fee if that is really what you need.
