Yanmar 4JH2E Heat exchanger was created by markrodger
Hi all, had to have my heat exchanger repaired last week due to corrosion, fresh water leaking into exhaust side. This was done in a small yard in Greece and so I am not that confident that it will stand the test of time. I would like to get a new or factory reconditioned unit. Does anyone have a Yanmar spares catalogue (drawing parts numbers etc) or know of a dealer who could provide this part.

Regards

Mark

Here's a link to the manual (192.168.1.1:8181/http://www.dieselpartseurope.com/webwinkel/pdf/manuals/engine_discontinued/service/4jh-e_servicemanual.pdf). I googled Yanmar service in Greece and found a number of possible locations. Give it a shot and see if there's one near you.

Had the same problem last year on our 3E .Manages to procure a second hand heat exchange housing for half the price of a new one .
Talk to the Yanmar dealers they probably have one sitting around .

I had a leak due to corrosion in my heat exchanger right before where the exhaust exits to the mixing elbow which allowed the fresh water to run out through the exhaust. If that sounds like what you have I only replaced the Cooler Assembly, part number 129470-44000. That is just the cooler case without all the internal components like the cooler core assembly, covers, etc. I think what Hayden listed are part numbers for the whole built up unit. In 2006 the cost of just the cooler assembly was $860, now it's $1028. I also did a temporary repair using muffler epoxy putty to plug the hole and JB weld to fare it out which held together fine for 100 engine hours before I put in the new part. I still keep that as a spare. I would think a repair shop repair should last at least as long if you have the same leak location. Hope this helps a little.

Jerry.

Thanks Jerry, that’s exactly the problem I had I also plan to replace the cooler and keep the old as a spare. After much searching I found the Yanmar parts catalog complete with drawings, which is a god send. You can see the part and get the part number. I have attached it for info.
