The fuel injectors are removed and a pressure gauge is treaded into the one cylinder. Then the engine is cranked over with the fuel stop pulled out so it want start. The PSI is read and this is the compression reading for that one cylinder..this is repeated for each cylinder.
Yes this can be done with the engine in the boat.
