We have a Max Prop on our 420. It was on the boat when we bought it in 2009. We had it rebuilt at the factory at that time and since have only had to lube it when we pulled the boat, twice now. We're very pleased with the performance and reliability, no problems at all in that time.
Best example of performance was a day running down the Chesapeake Bay out of Annapolis. We had just left our anchorage and we're running under full sail in about 15 knot winds. I noticed a rumbling sound and realized the prop was rotating so I shifted into reverse and back to neutral to fold the prop. Our increase in speed was noticeable, I'd say one half to one knot , fully attributable to the prop.
Best price? Google it. We have the three blade Classic, 18". I found it listed at P2 Marine (
www.p2marine.com/engine-prop/max-prop/ma...op-three-blade.shtml) for $3632 for a 1.5" shaft.
