GMCCOMBS,
Hi, I installed an engine room blower in my 1997 350/Island Star. We slept in the back berth and it really helped with heat build up. The fumes/smell were never bad but the heat can be a problem. When you first stop it isn't hot because while the engine is running it is bringing in lots of fresh air to support the combustion process. But when the engine is turned off this process stops. From that point on the heat begins to find its way out (up)into the back berth. A blower really helps this process by bringing in fresh air and moving the heat out of the boat.
A word of caution, most engine blowers are designed for gas engine gasoline fume evacuation and aren't rated for continuous duty. You want something that you can run all night, or at least 6-8 hrs, until the engine room is at ambient temperature,
Hope this helps,
George
