IP445 Tank Sensors & Display was created by karlacour
Hello everyone,

We are enjoying getting to know our IP445 and have run into another puzzle. The water and waste tank monitoring system is an Acu-Gage Ultra 8 display paired with the foil tape type sensors that attach in two strips to the outside of each tank. The display graphic cells are failing and the connectivity between the foil strips and leads has degraded, particularly on the water tank, leading to unreliable readings. Does anyone know of a good replacement for this setup? We would love to use the existing wires (one ground and two additional wires going to each tank) to avoid mousing through what we are finding to be very tight cable tie bunches.

Thank you,
Karen

Our 370 uses a Raritan tank monitor with the foil strips. The strips on the water tank can get damp from the bilge and the originals gradually failed. Replaced them with new strips after scrapping the old off and covered the new ones with packing tape and many more years of service with no problem.

Hello again,

After doing more digging, we found a company that sells an upgrade to the original Ultra-8 monitoring system. Same cutout, and they'll modify the unit to use the same wiring harness as the original if necessary. They also sell new sensor kits and sensor repair kits, in addition to more traditional tank level monitors for metal tanks.

So if anyone else with an Ultra-8 runs into the same problems we have, this is a good place to start!

Best-
Karen
