Sonar transducer IP32 was created by Handsoff
Hi. I have a new Garmin 742xs and I want to add a sonar transducer. I’m interested in a shallow water view more than fishing.
Apparently, the model is dependent on the angle of the hull at install location.
Does anyone with an IP32 have a suggested mounting place for a flush mount thru Hull transducer?
The models being suggested are
1 B60-20 16-24 deg deadrise
2 B60-12 8-15 deg deadrise
3 B17 0-7 deg deadrise

Appreciate any help
Marshall

When I added a Garmin chartplotter I used a short piece of pvc pipe (about 8", I think) and angled it to the slope of the hull. I bonded it directly to the hull in the compartment just forward of the galley. I filled it with mineral oil and mounted the transducer in a pvc flat end cap. The transducer is suspended in the mineral oil, and shoots straight down through the hull. It's worked just fine for at least 10 years now.
I posted photos of the setup when I did it, but can't find them here now.

I am doing the same thing with my IP44. I have ordered the Raymarine CPT-S with 16-24 deadrise. It takes a 60mm hole. I want to install as far forward as possible and hopefully avoid interference from the keel.

Looking forward to hearing more responses to your question for a standard thru hull.

I will also appreciate any guidance.

Jim
