Bow Thruster loss of DC Power Problem was created by Eternal Sunshine
Three times over the past two weeks I have lost all DC current after using the Bow Thrusters (SidePower). My boatyard could not find the source of the problem but did discover that it appears there is no circuit breaker that separates the Bow Thruster from the main DC power. The DC power came back eventually on its own after a couple hours and the Bow Thruster after 12 hours. Could you advise if there is a circuit breaker or fuse and location of each. Also, should not the Bow Thruster circuit be separated from the main power supply to avoid shutting down the entire DC system?

Bob:
This sounds like a breaker that opened due to over loading or due to age. Then when the breaker opened and after it cooled off, it reconnected and come back. What boat model is this? Is this a factory install or after market? Do you have a wiring diagram? I would trace out all the wires to this bow thruster and find out where it is connected into the 12 volt system. I would expect the thruster would be on its own circuit and with its own breaker. Do you have to flip a breaker to use the thruster?

PS:
Can you add info to your profile here, so we know the boat model and added info, thanks
