Chart plotter height was created by Carl D
Hi all!  We have a Whitlock pedestal with a high grab bar on our IP380.  Currently our chartplotter blocks our view entirely.  We’re forced to crane our necks to look around it every time we want to see what’s immediately in front of us.  We’re about to pull the trigger on a new Raymarine Axiom Pro 12 MFD and we want to take this opportunity to try and improve our visibility.  Simply lowering the MFD is not really an option as it would block the view of the compass.  We don’t want to lose the grab bar entirely as we consider it to be an important safety feature (we’re not opposed to modifying or re-bending it).  Has anyone solved this problem or does anyone have any good ideas on how to reconfigure the MFD/Compass/Pedestal?  Thanks in advance!

We had experienced the issues of MFDs blocking visibility when sailing with friends on their boats including an IP380. Our solution was worked out with the commissioning yard for our 370 with the Whitlock helm. The key was moving the MFD to the forward side of the grab bar and required an inexpensive custom stainless part fabricated by the yard. The yard manager told me a few years later he had sold many more of the solution. I know others have copied it after seeing our boat. These are the best pictures  could quickly fine and the looking forward was taken by me while seated.
