I used starboard. The screw holes were cracked on the original but that was due to offset alignment on install. Hope that helps.

I used starboard also just 2 days ago. The starboard makes the hatch slide much easier.

The IP factory in Florida sent me a couple, at a price, and I cut them to length and installed. Perfect.

So I'm a new IP485 owner and the previous owner had purchased the pieces from the factory.
Now I trying to figure out how to get the companionway cover removed to replace the pieces. The only thing I can figure out is to undo the entire piece under the dodger to get the companion way cover removed. Or did I miss something?

Thanks,

Sean

On our 485 we just cut ours as far back as you can get and just replaced that section. I know others have done the same. You can remove the hatch if you want, but that will be a big project.

I did what Caesura said. Cut them as far back as you can and they will look and work just fine. Be careful not to over tighten the screws. Otherwise yes, you would have to go through the trouble of removing the dodger if you have one and the complete companion way cover assembly.

So when I started to remove the old slider material there was some type of adhesive underneath. It was sticky and gummy but not particularly adhesive. I'm assuming a little acetone and I can get that off.  But I'm a bit confused, so I'm trying to figure out if I should go buy some 3M 4200 and apply that or just clean it up and use the existing screws.

Thanks,

Sean

There was adhesive on mine also but no trouble pulling the old pieces off. I didn't even clean it and I did not add anything new. Just screwed the new pieces on being VERY carful not to screw the screws in to tight. My hatch stays pretty dry with the dodger I have so I wasn't concerned.
