Man, if you've never used an autopilot, you haven't lived. I thought this would be a difficult installation, but it was a breeze. The only glitch, that was pretty weird, was that the rubber piece that is supposed to hold the wheel mechanism on is way too big for the wheel spoke. Luckily, I found some PVC tubing that was the perfect size to fix the problem (see photo). We've sailed for about six weeks with this setup and it has been a joy.

I couldn't find an appropriate holder for the readout, so I made my own. It was intended to be a mockup for something nicer out of teak, but it looked so good and worked so well that I gave it a few coats of varnish and called it done.

Note the sunglasses holder....

The controller fit nicely in the nav station storage bay.

Fluxgate compass in the settee just forward of the nav station.

Binnacle mounting was easy.

Very easy to use.

Just inside the rubber gripper you can see the PVC tubing that makes it a tight fit.

How is that wheel Autopilot holding out?
Still working I hope.
Do you think its big enough for an IP 35 with the same quadrant and gear steering?
Thanks
Ed
