Having done both on previous boats, I would think that the only person that could accurately answer your question is that one that pulled the wires and/or installed the liner on your boat? Of course, the wiring harness on our IP appears to be wayyyy less random than the Catalina factory used to do?
Anther thing to consider is that a hole in the boat is much more permanent than a hole in a hatch. You could always get that hatch replaced if need be?
