Simpson-Lawrence anchor windlass was created by miragemanvt
Hopefully, someone can provide me with some information and guidance relative to replacing the black plastic control arms on a Simpson-Lawrence windlass. Somehow, the control arm on the starboard side of the windlass was chewed up during a retrieval and has since finally broken off. I want to replace it, that is assuming Simpson-Lawrence has the spare part(s). My boat is a 1989 IP38 (#107 to be exact)and I believe the item is the original windlass. I cannot tell from examinining it which model it is (no stampings are evident) thus I turn to you to see if anyone might be of some assistance. Simpson-Lawrence's online catalogue suggests it may be a Model 1000 or 1500, regardless, I am assuming the model was perhaps consistently used on other 38's of like vintage. If anyone has any experience servicing the unit or replacing the "dogs" I'd love to hear from you.

Ken:
This is the best I can do for finding SL parts. Pyacht.com has a clickable parts catalog, you may have luck here:

While doing routine service on my SL Sprint 1500 I noticed the plastic "Rope/Chain Fleming" was broken. This is a different part from the Control Arm mentioned earlier in this thread.

After contacting SL Parts, and also Pyacht I found the cost of this small piece of plastic to be $80..

Since the windlass has been working fine, my question to the Forum is: Do anyone know the purpose of this part? Perhaps I can do without it?
