IP32 Deck wash down for windlass was created by smconrad
We want to install a Lofrans manual windlass, which seems to be pretty straightforward. We also want to install a deck wash down pump. I plan to install the wash down pump under the cabin sole just outside of the head and run the hose forward under the v-berth and into the chain locker. There seems to be a drain channel running most of the way forward, but not through the forward-most compartment under the v-berth.
Can I drill through the bulkhead to run the hose through that compartment, and then into the chain locker without causing any problems?

Steve,
I installed a wash down and Lofrans manual windless on our 31. You might have seen it last year at the RH rendezvous. I located the wash down pump under the sink in the head and ran the line for it along the bottom edge of the v berth mattress . I then brought the line up and drilled into the bottom of the chain locker from the v-berth side and ran the hose up toward the deck along the aft starboard corner of the chain locker. Had to have a small nephew act like a carnival performer twist his body to do the thru deck attaching of the hose to the fitting and to secure the watre hose to the inside of the chain locker.

I had originally planned to go through the bulkhead between the V-berth and head and then take the hose under the v-berth area where are water tanks are located but the issues with drilling blind into areas I couldn't completely see caused me to go with the plan I have now.

Once I had the hose secured in place i went back and silicone sealed the opening in the chain locker around the hose. A bit of a messy job but it has never leaked. We have a 6" mattress in the v-berth so the hose is only visible at the bow for a couple of inches and isn't seen at all except for that part.

I didn't drill a new thru hull for the water inlet for the pump but T'd off of the raw water line going to the head under the sink in the head. I was initially concerned that I might reduce cooling water to the engine, but after checking this with the engine on and the wash down hose wide open I couldn't detect an change in water flow from the exhaust when the pump was on and running. Also considering that you pump the handle for the windless and then wash down a section of chain, all with the engine running as you inch forward to slack the chain, you would not be running the hose the entire time while raising the hook. It seemed to make more sense to me that drilling a separate thru hull just for the wash down pump. We never use raw water in the head anyway only use fresh water from the head sink to flush.

If you wold like pictures let me know. I know the 32 and 31 have opposite set ups inside but would imagine that much would be the same just reversed side to side if you decided to follow what I did.

Thanks, Bob!
I certainly remember checking out your setup in Rock Hall. That's what helped me make the decision to go for it!
I also plan to tee off of the raw water head intake for the washdown pump, so I'm glad to hear that will work. I guess my next job on the boat will be to empty the anchor line locker and see if that drain channel does or does not go beneath that forward compartment. If it doesn't, I'll try some alternate routes based on what you did.
Thanks for the input!
