I can tell you the lifeline 27;and 31 are the same size. I replaced all my 27 with 31 years ago, then last summer i replaced the 31 with the lifeline ,31xt the 125 amp hr ones. They are all the same size.
We have 6 Lifeline 31 xt on our 35.
Both you and Hayden have been very helpful but since we both have IP440's, (with the same available space and presumably with a Balmar Duo-Charge operating between house and engine start battery banks) would having a Lifeline GPL-2700T (an AGM starting battery rather than one with a deep cycle rating) work? That is, house bank of GPL-31XT batteries and engine start battery a GPL-2700T.

Agm are agm from a charging standpoint. I have a gpl 31xt as my starter battery because #1. I wanted all the same. #2 the engine starts in a nano second so who needs cranching amps to turn over and over and over a YANMAR diesel?
Your 27 agm should be just fine.
