After putting the engine into idle, we heard a chirping sound from the instrument panel. Not the full sound of the low oil pressure alarm at startup. Just an intermittent chirping. Started it up the next day and heard the chirping again after 15 minutes. Oil level is good and the gauge is rock solid at 40. We are thinking the oil sending unit is the problem.
Any ideas on what the problem or solution is would be appreciated. Also, could we run the engine for a short 10 mile trip to the marina with a potentially bad oil sending unit?
