Boat Transport companies was created by wanderer
Hi All -

I plan on moving my IP35 from Merritt Island FL to Tallahassee. Any suggestions on haulers? I suppose a Florida based outfit that has experience with IPs would be ideal.

Thanks
Glenn

Just saw Hayden's post about Joule. Guess I should have actually looked before posting a question that had already been answered. Anyway sent an email to Joule. Any other suggestions are also welcome.

Well, using Joule in Florida may be the way to go. However, when we shipped our IP32 from Seattle, the driver (Joule) had NEVER hauled an Island Packet. When we ship our IP to Florida this fall, we will use Andrews (a very good Canadian company).

Whimsy has arrived in FL safe and sound. The company was Andrews Trucking Limited (www.andrewstrucking.com/)

What a difference between this and our disaster of an experience with the shipper who brought her here from Seattle. Andrews' service was impeccable. They did exactly what they said they would, and there were absolutely no issues. And they were spot-on with the estimated cost.

A huge THANK YOU to Kevin and Glen at Andrews. I can't imagine service any better than theirs.

An old thread, but for others down the road, I have had great luck with US Boat Haulers. usboathaulers.com/
This is a one man operation and Ernst has a terrific rig and great attitude. He can arrange everything on either side or both and stays true to his word and knows sailboats as a sailor himself. He used to be local to Texas, but I believe he is now based out of Florida. Prices are good and he does not hit you with overages like others. We used him a couple years ago to move a Cape Dory from the coast to a lake and will use him again to move the Cape Dory back to the coast to sell it. Going into the lake required some creative thinking and he did it and for what he agreed to do it for, even though the job took a day longer and helped re-commission the boat a week later when the pieces of the rigging that the boat yard rigger broke came in.

Hello:

It has been almost six years since anyone has contributed any new recommendations for boat transport companies (truck).

Does anyone have any new contributions?

My particular situation would be Florida to Maine.

Thank you

Hello:

I am considering the purchase of a 1989 Island Packet 38 cutter.
If I were to purchase it I would need to have it trucked from Florida to Maine.

Can anyone tell me the height and dry weight of an IP38?

I need the information in order to get trucking fee estimates, and I don't seem to be able to find it anywhere.

Thank you very much.

I thought the IP website used to have brochures & specs on legacy models, but a very quick look did not yield anything. A phone call would probably get you what you need. The new owners are very helpful & responsive and I would bet they have the info you need somewhere.

A quick Google search will get some specs. The displacement is 21,500#. You can also get beam and LOA.

I am not asking for any of those measurements that are readily available.

I am asking for the height (bottom of keel to top of cabin) and dry weight (weight of the boat empty) which are required by trucking companies in order to obtain quotes.

Thank you

Philip:
The company the ships all IPS is www.MoveMyBoat.com and that will resolves to Joules Yacht Transport. They know the measurments of your IP35. I have trucked my IP35, and it will fit under the 13'6" bridges when loaded on their trucks. I would not use any other trucking company as they have build trailers for moving yachts.
Simply go to their web site and email them or call them or request a quote, they get back to you promptly.
