I didn't see this earlier. We carried bottles aboard Charbonneau when cruising and normally had between 15 and 30 bottles of wine. Our solution was to store them in (clean) socks (white socks for white wine, grey socks for our reds). We put them in a lower floor locker and sailed over 25,000 miles without a single spill. And as you know, Hayden, we rarely took the inside routes anywhere, so the boat took it's share of hard knocks along the way.
Box wine has come a long way since those days, but I still love a good bottle and think it's worth the effort. In our case, if the bottle ever did break - the glass was already contained in the sock.
