Worldwide Insurance was created by Jeffrey Cardenas
I have been happy with the BoatU.S. / Geico policy for my IP460 but I am now planning to cruise outside their coverage territory. Are there any long-range cruisers and circumnavigators out there who have recommendations on worldwide policies?

Jeffery:

I am so happy to see you in here and active with your amazing FLYING FISH. Good for you.

I spent a month last year on this topic and I discovered what I feel is the best policy for long range cruising and various destinations. Al Golden created this for exactly this purpose. The best part about this product is that it is underwritten by a USA company MARKEL Insurance, this is a publicly traded company and it is USA based, which is a big deal if you have a claim. No need to deal with Lloyds of London etc.

The product that works for your need is called The Jackeline product and is on the Al Golden web site here:
www.imis.pro/jackline.htm

Al sold his company to his buddy in the Gowrie group here
www.gowrie.com/Marine-Insurance/IMIS.aspx

So, they now service the policy as well. But the product was created and written by Al Golden, so start with at his site here
www.imis.pro/jackline.htm

In there you will end up talking to Cindi and if you get pushed up to Gowrie you will talk to Rachel. These are the people I work with along with Al.

Give them a call or an inquiry, I feel it is the best.
I am sure others will have other leads as well.

You have got a lot on your plate these days Hayden. Thank you for taking the time to respond to me. I'll contact Cindi at Jackline in the morning. I leave for the Panama Canal December 2.

Hello Jeffrey,
Will you be part of the Pacific Puddle Jump fleet? We will be crossing the Pacific to the Marquesas Islands in our 485, leaving around Mar 1st.
To answer your question, we went with Bluewater Insurance for our journey to New Zealand, although my initial impression with them was not very positive.

Hi Jon & Kristi,
I won't be part of the Puddle Jump. I am not organized enough for group sailing. I will, however, be making the passage around the same time period so I look forward to an opportunity to catch up with you. I'm in Panama now. I'll make the Transit in a couple of weeks. Then I'll sail down to Ecuador and do some hiking in the Andes while I wait for the right weather wind to sail to Polynesia.
Regarding insurance: I went with Cyndi Ray at International Marine Insurance Services. She was very attentive. Her contact info is: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. p: 410.364.7704 f: 410.827.3758
