IP 35 vs IP 350 was created by peloquin
I am planning on selling my IP 27 and buying either an IP 35 or a 350. I would be interested in hearing what the operative, qualitative, etc differences are between the two. Thanks

The 35 is an older model and is more similar in size to the 380.
The 350 is a newer model is more similar to the 32.

The 35 uses the same galley as the IP40
The 350 uses a smaller galley, 2 burner stove but a better ice box.

The 35 has traditional bunks, V and Qtr
The 350 has island bed forward and sideways bed aft

The 35 costs less than most 350

The 35 has full engine access with the engine at floor level
The 350 has the engine lower and under the Qtr berth and more aft

The bow is higher on the 35 and the sheer line is more pronounces
The sheer line was removed on the 350 and most IPs w/XX0 making the bow lower and the cabin top higher

For me, I prefer the older IPs due to this lost sheer line.

I do like the lower engines for quiet and less sound, but thats it.

I do like the newer ice boxes of the 350

The island beds are nice at anchor but would not work as well under sail

It really is a toss up. You need to get onto each boat and feel the space and the set up. Then once you feel the space next is the budget. Most of us will buy the most boat our budget can take.

Enjoy the shopping, it is a fun time...

We are the proud owners of an IP350 and have extensive offshore experience and can provide some additional info if you are interested.

We do not have an island bed on our 350. We have an offset forward berth that works well offshore. But the best sea berths are in the salon with lee cloths installed.

In the aft cabin the Pullman berth (athwart ships works well) at anchor and offshore. We've used a mid line lee cloth in the aft cabin on a round trip to Bermuda and on two DELMARVA circumnavigations. On our blue water trip to the Caribbean it was not required but the aft cabin turned out to be the best place to sleep!

There is more space in the salon behind the seat backs with mid level shelving. More room for spares, provisions, just more useable space.

There are two fulls size lazarettes on the 350 that to me are a big plus. Great storage and easy access to the water heater and steering gear.

The reefer/fridge is also aligned side to side - so you have less effect from solar radiation on both the reefer and freezer. We use the outboard side of the box as our reefer and the inboard side as a full freezer. Have added extra insulation but the results are amazing.

There is room in the factory installed battery box for up to 6 GPL-31 AGM Batteries - no need to extend cable and make remote connections to other batteries in other locations.

A stay sail on the Hoyt Boom is a great addition when offshore in higher winds or when you are forced to motor sail into chop/slop and winds nearly on the nose.

Access to the bilge pump is much easier on the 350 and the shower sump pump/strainer is also easily accessed.

Compare the boats and decide which is right for you. They are both great products from IP!
