Reporting from Palm Cay Marina on the island of New Providence, Bahamas, where Nassau is located. This marina is beautiful, modern and with a cafe, restaurant, beach bar, pool and a beautiful beach with straw umbrellas and recliners. 2016 price $1.75/ft, water 35 cents per gallon, electric 65 cents per kilowatt. Non floating docks, tide about 3.5 feet.

They also give you a loaner car for two hours to run to stores or Nassau. Laundry is 1.50$ per washer, the dryer is free!

I would stay here tge next time we come into Nassau. The channel is clearly marked, and the lift a security chain locking in the marina from 7pm till 9am. Crazy, but, it prevents boats from being taken in the night.

We generally go Miami to Nassau. This looks great, New Providence w/o the crime. CAN YOU CLEAR CUSTOMS HERE?????
We have always gone to Harbour Bay Yacht Club in Nassau and really like it. Now there is a whole food like store across the street.. We love Nassau and would go again. We have a discount at the liquor store there....all good. Actually it is a cruiser that dies many many years ago, but we keep his discount number alive and use it every time we are in Nassau...."dead Jack's discount".But there have been some crime problems in Nassau in the last couple of years. . We have also gone over to the Defense Forces base area to Nick and Carolyn's on the South West side of NP on the way home, but it is out of the way. All very good there also. So can we clear customs and would you leave your boat there????

1. Yes, you can clear customs here.
2. Yes I would leave my boat here, many are stored here year round as a base.
3. The liquor store across from Nassau marinas are a rip off, way over priced. So is the Whole Fresh Food Market there.
4. With the Palm Cay 2hr car, you can provision at Super Value Food Stores and many cheap liquor stores.

This place had 30 boats in last year, today, a waiting list. They have 30 transient slips but many with no power. So book ahead.

I have never sailed into Nassau in 5 years of coming down here and honestly, with this set up at Palm Cay, I see no need to. We leave tomorrow for Exumas and are sad to leave.
