Here isa NOAA chart of these legs. You can see how most of these course are into the EAST so you need to wait for a south wind or a calm motor run.

I just checked on a marina dock at LAYFORD CAY Marina on New Providence Island west of Nassau. The price is $5.25/foot so docking our IP35 would be $184.00 per night. Not going there.

Then I checked CHUB CAY marina, this is $4.35/ft. so our 35 feet would cost $153/night.

In Nassau, the dockage at Browns Warf is $3.00/foot so 35 feet is $105/night. That is not bad.

New Plan.....USE BIMINI, dock at BROWNS MARINA BIMINI for $1/foot. Hide from the strong winds, then sail on after the blow.

Here are some new distances that are not in the table above.

Bimini to North West Channel is 70nm course about 93
North West Channel to West Bay on New Providence is 43nm course about 130.

After the blow comes through, we can use the NORTH and NE winds to sail the banks all day and out the NW channel and on to West Bay. This would be a total of 113nm or about 19-22 hours. So, you could leave Bimini in the AM around 10-12, then sail and run the bank exit the NW channel at night and then sail the tongue of the ocean all night arriving at West Bay New Providence around 8-10 am. Anchor down then the next day move onto the Exumas.

Here are the winds as they are forcast Monday AM.

Wed Winds...motor sail calm seas from Miami to Bimini

Thur/Friday Blow....safe docked in Bimini and wait for N winds after frontal passage

Here is the New Route idea and what this leg would look like. We could run this in 20-22 hours

Hayden,
Consider continuing past Chub Cay about 4nm to the east side of Frazer's Hog Cay to the old Berry Islands Club. They have a couple of docks and as I remember about 8 mooring balls. The caretaker runs the generator for a few hours in the AM and again in the late afternoon. They have free WiFi then and a nice patio to rest and relax. We stayed there last year for a couple nights before we pressed on to Nassau. We left a donation but there was no $$ charge. There are several anchorages in there too. Mike & Carol on "Nomad"

Thank you Mike. We may do that.
We made Bimini in 10 hours (7am to 5pm) and docked at Browns Marina where you have to deal with a 2 knot current! Nice place, and now we can walk into Alicetown and check in.
Welcome to the Bahamas....ahhhh

I saw it on your blog and, being stuck in Brunswick, turned green with envy.

We are in the EXUMAS, and yes, if you run it only as day hops it will take you 4 days.
1. Miami to Bimini, dock
2. Bimini to NW Channel, achor
3. NW Channel to West Bay, anchor
4. West bay to Highborne Cay, anchor and take on fuel at Highborne Cay Marina

These are all about 10+ hour days. Now, we plan to focus between Highborne Cay and Little Farmers Cay.
