Making our second visit to Marsh Harbor, we now can share a simple report. First of all, THE HOLDING IS FANTASTIC as we held fast, the other night, in a frontal passage with squalls and driving rain of 50 mph! We have a 44 lb BRUCE and 5/16" chain and in 7' of water we had out 75-80 feet. All boats in Marsh Harbor held fast even a 60 foot 3 story power trawler. So like many have told us, the holding in Marsh Harbor is really good, and now we can agree!
The harbor can easily anchor 100+ boats but we have only seen about 30 each time we have been here in
March 2012. The town, thanks to the yacht Club, has a great dinghy dock, floating with easy access to the main street for shopping at MAXWELLS and NAPA, and TRUE VALUE, and much more.
In the other end of the harbor, there is a second floating dock to come ashore near the Moorings Charter company, and many of the fine restaurants. And then, not to be missed is the other side where the JIB ROOM is located. Jib Room has Sat Night Steak Night and Wed night RIB night.
Overall, Marsh Harbor is a great place to spend a few nights on anchor, take in the restaurants and secure some provisions. We have been very lucky and have not needed much but we still enjoy the town and the location.
